Frank is celebrating independance day in Rocky Ford!

He is fast approaching the foothills of the Rockies. His altitude is already over 4,000 feet, but as it is a long gentle slope over hundreds of miles it is scarcely perceptible on the ground as he walked across the flat wheat belt of Kansas.

He sent an e-mail advising that he had been in Las Animas on Monday 2nd July, making an early start to cover the distance to La Junta before the wind dropped and the heat picked up in the afternoon on Tuesday 3rd. He should make the 13 miles to Rocky Ford early today Wednesday the 4th as I write this.

Meanwhile the temperatures back home in the UK have been high this week reaching around 30C a little inland in Southern England, but all is due to change by the weekend.
