The first 40 days. Franks own Diary

Another week and another state boundary has been beaten!

Despite temperatures yesterday evening still up to 104F (39C) at 6pm Frank still managed to walk 19miles! He walked into Lamar, Colorado "a little warm" and was shocked when found how hot it actually was! Although his altitude above sea level is around 3000feet he is still geographically on the great plains and the temperatures are soaring as they usually do at this time of year. This evening he was sipping tea in the local tourist office describing how his walk is turning into a real challenge and he is having to take longer breaks and pace himself a little slower to ensure he still is at his best to keep going. This town has 8000 people making it a medium sized town in this area and a dedicated team to welcome people to the state and the town, headed by Judy Douglas. He is still on the Santa Fe trail used by trappers and such enroute for Mexico and their are artifacts of this trad locally. Agriculture is still the major activity although tourism is a growing trade here.

Frank still has 2 weeks before he hits the Rocky mountain range which he will probably glimpse before we hear from him next week.
